Meridian Centre, Peacehaven

Peacock + Smith have secured a committee resolution to approve the redevelopment of the Meridian Centre at Peacehaven.
The Meridian Centre is dated, has suffered years of under investment and unfortunately no longer serves the needs of Peacehaven residents. The proposals (designed by Whittam Cox Architects) will include a new large modern food store (around 4,700 sq m) which will significantly improve local consumer choice. The scheme also includes around 4,000 sq m of flexible commercial floorspace, a replacement library and enhancements to Community House. This will all be centred around a new public square which could be used for a range of activities, including a town market.
Peacock + Smith undertook a lead agent role on the project, assembling a consultant team, assisted with the public consultation process and lead on pre-application discussions. We also prepared and negotiating the application, which included the resolution of a number of planning issues in respect of design, landscape, highways, drainage, ecology, noise, lighting, BREEAM / energy use, air quality, archaeology and contamination.
