Solar Array, Solihull
Peacock + Smith secured planning permission in April 2026 for the delivery of a 144-panel solar array in Solihull.
The scheme plays a key role in supporting the long-term sustainability ambitions of the retirement house for priests of the Society of St Columban, helping the building move significantly closer to full environmental self-sufficiency.
Sensitively located on Green Belt land beyond the main building’s residential curtilage, the proposal balanced landscape considerations with the clear environmental and operational benefits of on-site renewable energy generation. A robust case was successfully made demonstrating that the wider sustainability and economic advantages justified the development.
The application was approved under delegated powers, highlighting the strength and clarity of the planning strategy.
