The Circle, Bermondsey
Peacock + Smith pursued a series of successful planning applications for the asset management of a substantial mixed-use estate falling within the Tower Bridge Conservation Area. The complex is part four, five and six storeys in height comprising 299 residential apartments on the upper floors; predominantly commercial floorspace (retail, cafés, offices, leisure and health/beauty uses) on the ground floor; and underground parking garage in a two-storey basement. Planning permissions have been secured for the conversion of retail units into offices and residential units.
Peacock + Smith are currently advising on the planning strategy for extensions at roof level on each of the four quadrants of the central circular space to provide four luxury penthouses and challenging the recent statutory listing (Grade II) of the building, which formed part of a thematic project of post-modernist architecture by Historic England.
